Wilmar Acres was started in 1958 by William Swetnam , who was later joined by his wife Mary.  Together they raised 5 children on the farm; Peter, Bruce, Anne, Jeanne and John.  Currently the farm business is run by John & Peter Swetnam with the help of their families and employees. The farm produces 1.5 million kilos of broiler chickens annually.

    In 1994, they purchased Dominion Produce and produce onions through the Country Magic brand with Nova Agri in the Annapolis Valley. They follow an environmental farm plan, on Farm Food Safety program and practice Integrated Pest Management.They are OFFSAP approved and follow biosecurity measures.
